Our Learning Rhythm

We learn with Florida’s seasons, not against them.

Florida is subtropical. The land moves through heat, rain, growth, and rest — so rather than following an industrial school calendar, our year mirrors how healthy ecosystems actually function: deep engagement followed by intentional rest.

Feb–May

Spring Term

Our primary learning season — cooler days and active ecosystems make it ideal for immersive, land-based exploration.

Jun–Jul

Summer Rest

Peak heat and storm season. Like the land itself, we slow down, integrate, and make space for unstructured family play.

Aug–Nov

Fall Term

A second season focused on growth, stewardship, and community — ending with a family campout on the land.

Dec–Jan

Winter Rest

The inward season — a time for reflection, storytelling, and restoration before the next cycle begins.

How We’re Organized

One mission, two branches.

EcoRoots Sanctuary

The charitable organization — responsible for conservation, partnerships, community outreach, and the long-term land vision. A registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Energetic Nature Learning Community

The education branch — delivering hands-on, nature-based programs that fulfill our mission of reconnecting children and families to the land.

Community Partnerships

Stronger together.

Living Boho Apothecary

Our long-term partner in Clermont, FL and official donation hub. We host Eco Kids Corner stations outside the shop during Main Street events all year long.

Lake County Libraries

Free summer and seasonal nature programs — craft stations, wildlife education, storytelling, and ecological exploration for local families.

City of Minneola

We bring nature learning to the Minneola Kids’ Market and community events, and support local environmental stewardship efforts.
