Demonstration Microsystem
A living example showing how food production, restoration, wildlife habitat, education, and stewardship can coexist in one system — a pilot model others can replicate.

EcoRoots Sanctuary exists to help restore balance between people and the natural systems that sustain life — one child, one family, and one acre at a time.

EcoRoots Sanctuary began with a simple conviction: children and families learn best when they’re connected to the land. What started as South Lake County’s first nature school — the Energetic Nature Learning Community — has grown into a broader mission to conserve, restore, and reconnect.
We partner with homeschool families to spark curiosity and awaken the inner conservationist in every child, teaching kids how to think, not what to think. We reconnect students with the wisdom of the natural world and the rhythms of Florida’s seasons.
Today we’re a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit working toward a future where Central Florida’s natural spaces are restored, protected, and accessible for all.
To conserve natural spaces, provide transformative nature-based education, and inspire families to build lifelong relationships with the land — through experiential learning, community engagement, and stewardship.
A future where Central Florida’s ecosystems are restored and accessible — anchored by a Lake County sanctuary hosting our nature school, immersive retreats, community workshops, and habitat for both wildlife and people.

A future property with a nature school, outdoor classrooms, a library, demonstration gardens, animal systems, and food forests.
A large-scale protected ecosystem where native Florida wetlands, hardwood hammock, pine systems, and wildlife corridors are preserved and restored.
Future housing where individuals and families can experience ecological living, stewardship, and community-based learning first-hand.
We do honest, transparent work and steward every gift of time and resources with care.
We care for the land and each other, treating both as a shared inheritance worth tending.
Connection comes first — to self, to community, and to the living world around us.
We seek harmony between human needs and ecological health, not a trade-off between them.
We teach children how to think, not what to think — following wonder wherever it leads.
